Anybody using "Wechat" app ??

@Tanoos It has its ups and downs. I just hate how the groups work though. And WeChat is used for absolutely everything too.

@Quizzical Well, everything else is blocked here. And it's encouraged to use WeChat. It's a lot more than a messaging app too. It's pretty much used for Everything. Payment, advertising, business, registering, etc.

@Gillian but I used for a friendship world...have lot of friends from all over the world..had lot of photos..that are from my lovely moments..I d'nt have back up all that and loose everything...

@Tanoos Yeah that is true. I also have a few friends who have left China already and they still have the app in order to keep in touch. There is always the privacy concern as WeChat is monitored but then as long as you're not doing anything dodgy, it's fine.

@Quizzical Yeah it was a big change coming here. Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, pretty much anything western is blocked and restricted. And yeah, internet and news from the outside is restricted and throttled. There are ways to get around it but it's easier to just use what they have here. I've pretty much disappeared from social media.

@Quizzical So I've heard. And there are privacy issues everywhere, not just China. Media always paints the worst pictures of other places.

Anyway, I'm not that social to begin with lol. So it wasn't a big loss to me.
