Are guys nervous to eat in front of women?

I've noticed that the guys I've been with always seem to have little to no appetite even if we've spent the whole day together haven't had anything. I feel weird bashing food when they aren't joining me but I'm a human who needs food!

Or they will eat but they like do something weird like sit behind me or slightly forward so that I'm behind them.

Is this a thing? Do guys get nervous to eat in front of me or am I being paranoid?

I don't get nervous but people I've been out with commented that I didn't order meat, just had a salad, or skipped a starter or dessert. The main reason is that if you don't know how the evening is going to end, you don't want to feel queasy from a full stomach. Plus, I don't like to eat a lot of food in one go, anyway.

@Peppa Well, I guess if it's someone I've had a number of dates with, perhaps the night will end in more exertion than is pleasant on a full stomach.
