I've never.
I was less open to these things one time.
But in the future I may be more open to it.

@SW-User I think keeping an open mind is best as approach as well, no reason to remove the chance of potentially great things happening.
I of course had reservations like anyone else, but taking that leap was one of the best things i ever did. So i can only recommend it on the chance of that happening others :)
It goes without saying that people should always be smart and be sure before travelling to meet someone.

Also imo it's not that hard to tell whether someone is genuine after a little while, you can feel it almost, i can anyway.
