Do you believe a woman when she tells you she truly is only a friend with an ex?

I have an ex who I consider a best friend. He will never be someone I have romantic feelings for again. But I care for him as a person very much. Do you think I'm naive when I think men should understand? How does it make you feel when your gf/wife spends time with an ex?

I'm ok with girls maintaining relationships with or "seeing" their exes as long as they aren't abusive.. Especially if they were good sexually
