If a man calls you and doesn’t leave a voicemail; is 24 hours an acceptable time to return the call?

If someone tried to call you then that’s something. Sometimes I mean to text or call someone but then I go to work, go home fall asleep etc so then it can easily be the next day when I have the energy to try again.
