Does real love really exist?

I've been wondering... If I really love a person, I would only want the best for them, right? So, if they tell me that they found someone new who is better for them than I am, I should be absolutely happy for them as I would only want the best. Truth is, I would be absolutely heartbroken and NOT happy for them. Did I really love that person then? Or did I love a potential and only became attached?

It sounds to me like you really loved that person and he or she broke you heart.
No, this was hypothetical, to illustrate what I mean. My point being that real love (=unconditional love), as I understand, is rare. If I really loved them I'd be happy for them if they are happy. If I can only be happy for them as long as they are with me, it is conditional love.

Glad to read that! :-) It's an excellent question and I think most of us would have the same dilemma in that situation.
