Are you only attractive to others if you have confidence?

It seems to me like it's actually impossible to attract people if you lack confidence. Is it really [i]that[/i] important?

For males, especially in the First World, I'd say it's pretty essentially to attracting about ~98% of the females they're ever likely to encounter.
