Back when I was in boot camp ,I looked forward to mail call every day
My wife would write me 5 -6 letters a day
and I would respond to everyone ,,,that how I made it
knowing she was home missing me as much as I missed her
She took a bus from Florida to Cape May New Jersey ,,,2 days getting to Cape May to spend 12 hours with me on liberty ,,we did not waste a second of it
I had several guys in my company who asked to see her picture
and they talked smack ,saying I cut it out of a magazine ,no way in hell a woman that fine loved me ,
I was so proud showing her off at the main gate as I introduced her to my friends
and the hecklers ,
The admitted back in the barracks ,,she was prettier in person ,then she was in the picture ,,,she was
I still have the letters to this day ,and some I wrote to my Mom
I am more known for writing songs for the women I love ,,until then
I was not much on writing letters
I always spoke with lyrics ,,to shy to just say how I felt
