Are relationships nothing more than an emotional business transaction?

Is it just an exchange of currency? Where the currency is each others needs? Is it just two people doing stuff they don't want to do in order to please the other person, in hopes that they will return the favor?

Holy crap. I can't speak for anyone else but when I'm in love with someone, I don't look for the other person to return a "favor." I do things for them because I want to. It gives me pleasure to make my partner happy. Mutual respect and love are part of the foundation of a good relationship. When emotions are in play, a cold business transaction generally doesn't enter the picture.

@SW-User that's the attitude I used to have. Sadly, my attitude or view on love has been soured through the years. Trust me, I'm not happy about my change of view in the least.

@SigmundFraud Maybe you're choosing the wrong people.
