Is it bad that the girl I like is 14 and I’m almost 18?

So I’m going to be 18 soon and I know it’s illegal to date a minor if they’re more than four years younger and not at least fifteen. But I’m waiting for her (7 months) and she knows it. Is it weird that I like her?

Uh, it isn't bad. But I recommend not doing that, lol.

@SW-User which part do you mean? I’m not going to date her yet if that’s what you mean
SW-User
@flowerboy Not liking her. She's in a different stage of life. She was twelve, like, two years ago. I'm eighteen now and there's absolutely nothing I have in common with a fourteen year old, lol.

@SW-User I guess I can see where you’re coming from but you’d have to know her. I honestly thought she was sixteen when I met her

@flowerboy I get it, sure. But a sixteen year old is still at a different stage in life. You're supposed to be in university right now. She's still a kid, doesn't matter how mature she seems. It wouldn't he fair to her, honestly.

@SW-User Not that I have to tell you this, but I’m not even graduated I’m a senior so no actually I should not be at a university, not until I am out of high school. And you’re not authority of the law. Sixteen is legal age of consent in my state, and fifteen is an exception as long as it’s a four year difference or less. How our birthdays are, it is less. I do understand what you mean when you say it’s unfair to her, I think. But I’ve explained to her that I will be busy with college. In my own home because I’m doing online courses, so I could still see her more often than if I actually was going away to college. And I’ve been planning to do online college since before I ever met her. So... thanks for assuming instead of asking.

@flowerboy Mate, you're basically, what? Five months away from graduating, then. And the fact is that she's not sixteen. She's fourteen. I'm not questioning the legality of it. But you are literally an adult. The best thing for both of you is probably to leave her be. She's probably just starting high school, and you're already ending it. Let her live her life, dude. Control your feelings. She's still basically a child.

@SW-User So I’ve thought about your advice and I decided it sucks. And is irrelevant. Because I’m waiting, you’re making it sound like I’m forcing something on her now. I’m not. I know I’m a good guy, I just needed to practice varying points of view because I think my Mom’s girlfriend is a lot like you.

@flowerboy You can wait all you want, man. But you should probably move on with your life. In a few years, you may feel differently.

@SW-User I’m not really like other guys. I won’t have a problem with it, really. But I guess if I wait and it does change it wasn’t meant to be. So it’s fine either way.
