Have any of you had to leave your partner?

I always stayed until I didn’t love them anymore.

Back in '97 my wife decided she needed to find herself so as to recover from childhood traumas so she went to California and left me to be a single dad with our eight year old son. Long story short he's fine and I'm still single. Yeah, it sucks.

No I have left far more than have left me but I always left for the same kind of reason, usually being taken for granted or worse treatment.

Sad yes, sometimes it's best. I was married for 25 years.

Sorry to learn of your loss. That saying about it being easier to drag you down than pull him up isn't exactly wrong, though. It sounds as though you did the right thing.
