It's hardly new, but it is very rare. I think the 24-hour-a-day news coverage and social media report everything from all over the country and the world so that many things seem to happen every day -- at the least -- because we're looking at the whole world, not just our own section of it. Like, if something happens to 1 in 100,000 people, but every incident is reported, it seems to us to be everywhere.
