I broke up with my coworker girlfriend of nearly 4 years, it was her decision due to our situation, she wanted to remain friends, I told her no and she lost it and went ballistic, being friends after a relationship never works out.

@Spiceweasel Yup too many emotions. Unless the emotions are gone it's a bad idea.

@Spiceweasel I鈥檓 sorry it didn鈥檛 work out for you but it鈥檚 just not true that being friends after a relationship never works out. I know that from my own experience as well as that of many of my friends.

@Helpinghands If you like torturing yourself that's fine but I think there's just too many emotions to be good friends, the way I look at is you were friends when you started and became more so why would you want to go backwards,

They don't want to be with you but they want to be your friend, this means they don't know what they're doing and want to keep their foot in the door just in case what they're doing goes to shit they'll have someone waiting to run to.

@Spiceweasel maybe that鈥檚 your experience but none of it is mine, I think you and me just live in very different worlds.

@Helpinghands we see things differently maybe it's a gender thing.

I know I failed to phrase my response correctly, I've heard a lot of women that being friends after a break up works.

@Spiceweasel fair enough. It can certainly work but of course it doesn鈥檛 always.
