Is it a red flag that a guy who I am just getting to know hasn't contacted me all week?

Every time we talk, it is an amazing conversation. he says he will cll me the next day but doesn't. Most times I don't hear from him until the following week. I know he has a new job, so he could be focused on that and getting some rest. Should I expect [i]something[/i] during that time? Anything? A simple text? Am I asking too much or should I continue to be patient? This whole dating thing is new. haven't done it in years. And when I did it before, it was much different.
