"Half your age plus seven" (from male perspective) creepiness rule is considered canon. Note that this rule is waived any time the man is rich or famous. Interestingly, this formula was originally intended for the OPTIMAL age, showing how culturally dependent these things are, and how things have changed over time. Wikipedia: " Max O'Rell's Her Royal Highness Woman from 1901 gives the rule in the format "A man should marry a woman half his age, plus seven."[66] Similar interpretation is also present in the 1951 play The Moon Is Blue by F. Hugh Herbert."

This would come to 25, however science does not bear this out at least in modern times where even few years age difference starts to increase odds of divorce noticeably *on average*. Because every person and situation is individual, this obviously doesn't hold for everybody, but people should definitely evaluate it for their situation.

Special mongerings: If the people date for a decade before tying the knot, the guy would be 46 by that time, meaning the "creepiness rule" means it would not be creepy for his bride to be 30 at that time, or 20 when they start dating. For some, this will be relief, for others it emphasizes how bogus the creepiness rule is. It's also worth noting that most relationships don't aim at marriage or ever after, especially nowadays.

A major real concern is that when the woman wants children, they will likely wish to do so in their 30's. If the guy has their other leg in the grave by then, this isn't a good match. Conversely, if the guy does NOT want children, they may have to avoid women in their 30's who do. This throws out any formulaic responses: Just find a woman who's interested in you & agrees with your position on children.

Yay long responses.

@ChipmunkErnie Exactly, I’m in this for a good time not a long time, I’m not one to catch feelings.

@NJA82 Looks like TWO people fail reading comprehension (And suddenly decide to log on & comment at the same time).
