Why is trust so important in a relationship?

I don't get it. I mean if your lover is gonna cheat he/she is gonna cheat. It's got nothing to do with trust. It's about how low they can go

It's a social construct heavily supported by the predominance of religions that still exist. I'm not condoning cheating but humans being in monogamous relationships is a fairly modern concept, there's still a genetic trait to fornicate all over the place for optimum success of the species, though its not necessary.

@karysma not crazed, evolved that way, average guy creates 300 million sperm a day from puberty to death in many cases. it takes 1 sperm for fertilisation, then women are 9 months out of the picture, do the maths. Lol it's not perfect. Religions are predominantly patriarchal, women have been portray as submissive, essential the scales are not in the females favour, particularly since its roughly 50/50 male/female now. There wasnt always equal numbers of males and females. Its likely females were the dominant sex 1000s of years ago.
