Why is trust so important in a relationship?

I don't get it. I mean if your lover is gonna cheat he/she is gonna cheat. It's got nothing to do with trust. It's about how low they can go

If he’s texting other women behind your back and you don’t trust him, is that a healthy, happy relationship? For most people, the answer would be no. Therefore no trust equals an unhealthy, unhappy relationship.
