I went through a tough break up, friend suggested I throw myself out there on one.... met a few nice people... but decided that online dating wasn’t for me... a whole lot of small talk... nothing of substance most the time.

A month went by and I didn’t log into or keep contact with anyone... then I got a random message from a woman I had interest in but tried contacting a month prior...

I remember standing at the gas pump seeing her message come through and thinking... “ is it worth messaging back”.

I put my phone in my pocket and didn’t respond... that evening I opened up my phone and her message was in front of me again so I responded... didn’t have any intentions before that to...

To make a long story short, I dragged the online relationship out, and didn’t meet her for a month after that contact... we ended up getting married a year ago.

To me online dating sucked... even if I met my wife on there... but I have a buddy who married the first girl he ever messaged on an online dating site... so he has a different opinion.

I guess but why can’t people approach people like normal and talk that way?

No. Too many fakes, flakes, liars, stalkers, sex fiends, scammers, rarely genuine, sociopaths, predators, egomaniacs, pediphiles, and murderers on there. Genuine? I’d venture to say 2% out of a million members. 😂
