When you care about someone

Do you find that you care less about that person if the caring is not reciprocated?
If the person is emotionally unavailable or just doesn’t seem to have the emotional intelligence to care about someone other than themselves - are you able to stop caring about them?
Is it all the caring just a waste of time?

This is exactly what I'm struggling with. I cared about someone so much, and he said he cared too, but then he retreated. We spoke for over a year, everyday. It felt like the rug was pulled out from under me.
It just sucks. I don't feel like I wasted time or caring, but I miss the friendship. It meant something to me.

@rottenrobi I know this pain. You aren’t alone on that. How long has it been?

@Unsatisfiedstace not that long. It's still fresh.

@Unsatisfiedstace I'm sorry you know it too. I'm sorry do many people know this pain. It's deep and it makes me second guess myself and wonder things I shouldn't.
Grrrrr... thanks for letting me vent. :)
