My 54 yo uncle is marrying a woman who is 25.

I still don't get over the fact that parents are totally okay with it.
Like surprised at first and then were like whatever his life.
And it is his life indeed but...WHAAT ? Nearly 30 years age gap ? She's closer to my age.
And no it is not for the money, her family is rich af.
The heck is happening ???
Why do the parents have to have any saying in this marriage ?

The age difference is huge , it probably won't work out, but it's their problem , not the parent's.

@Underconstruction I didn't say oppose it or anything, but they legit think I'm exaggerating by thinking it is weird.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@ArwenPandora But what is it to you. Live and let live, remember ?
PaleandPolluted · 36-40, F
I can see what’s it in for him...
Maybe it’s the man who wants to marry the pretty young rich girl because he’s poor.
ArwenPandora · 26-30, F
@Gingerbreadspice It would've been possible but he is not, poor that is.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
He obviously benefits from having a young thing lol. Maybe experience and maturity are attractive to her. @ArwenPandora
You should just give them your best wishes.
ArwenPandora · 26-30, F
@jjoe01 I do give them my best wishes. I just find it weird.
@ArwenPandora Well, after all you are not getting married, right?
ArwenPandora · 26-30, F
@jjoe01 Nope, but he asked for my honest opinion, and when I did, everyone said you are exaggerating.
But yeah whatever really.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Yes she must have some daddy issues, I agree.
ArwenPandora · 26-30, F
@JimboSaturn Someone pointed it out, and she lost her father some months ago and they were super close. Maybe she want to replace him or whatever, he was younger than my uncle...
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Perhaps. Seems like a possibility. @ArwenPandora

Some younger women have a thing for older men, that's what the heck is happening. It's not always about the money, in fact it rarely is.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@ArwenPandora You'd be surprised how many girls in that age group actually are attracted to guys aged 50+. I know quite a few of them.
ArwenPandora · 26-30, F
@NankerPhelge That is called Daddy issues. And linking wise, responsible, mature men with older.
Don't take it bad btw, that I said people my age think 50+ are old, it is just like a 4 yo kid would say " when I'm 18...", thinking 18 means adult and all, and it is really not.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@ArwenPandora I know what you are saying, Arwen, it's just that I've never really felt my age. I've always had a tendency to act somewhat younger than I really am, although I've never lied about my age. I think it could be called Peter Pan issues. Lol :)
Fernie · F
She's 25...her parents have no say in the matter.
SW-User
She has Daddy issues of course
ArwenPandora · 26-30, F
@SW-User 30 years gap ? I got a thing for older man, but...30 ????
SW-User
@ArwenPandora I know right it's like me being into 75 year olds😒😒
@SW-User I've seen you in the USO chatting up those WW2 babies-the ones
that were in ROTC in the early 1960's. You were at the "10 cents a dance table". And there was a LINE! Geez!

Because they liked each other and gave it a shot... and SO FAR... it's working? Some people like different ages.

The ones I can't believe even more are... my friend had an uncle getting married and they didn't get any wedding gifts and the reasoning was, they didn't think he needed another gift for his 8th wedding!

Um, what makes anyone think this one is gonna work where the 7 before didn't?
abe182 · 46-50, M
Too young to keel over. I don't recommend.
