Carissimi. I had a wife who treated me so badly, I was hospitalized.
Now I have many women who just want to use me to fill their need for love and friendship. They start off leading me to believe we can have more, but then realize a good friend is rarer than a lover. So they go get a lover and come cry on my shoulder when they have problems. It hurts me when they do it again and again. Who am I? dirt? So like you, I have stopped looking and am living my life "alone." I am grateful for whatever comes my way. But I no longer feel entitled to anything, nor do I want to. I work for all I have. I do it honestly too.
So it can be done as you suggest.

I'm sorry. Yes, it can be done, and I'm doing it.

Pets arent surrogate humans. The comparison is kind of perverse. But dont listen to me Id rather have a man as my pet 🙊

I don't see anything perverse in having a dog, but a man as a pet? Hmm...

Carissimi · F
I agree with you.

Hmmmmm .... my dog loved to play "fetch the ball" but he'd hide the ball from me and only brought it out when "he" wanted to play fetch. Once he had played enough, I throw it and he'd fetch, but then go hide it someplace and go do whatever he thought more interesting. A few days later he'd be at my feet with the ball, swinging tail and all. I think it was him playing fetch with me.

They are so funny, but leave us precious memories.

I've shed too many tears myself over the decades, but I appreciate your empathy. I'm happy for you.

Yes, it is too bad, and sad that now I'm more scared of men than ever...let alone trust them...and I am too long in the tooth to start risking my welfare again.

Outside of a dog, a book can be your best friend... Inside a dog, it's just too dark to read, I'm afraid.
Carissimi · F
I read every day, but you can't cuddle a book.

Well, it's either the companionship of woman's best friend or growing old alone.
