My first was two years younger than me. My second was eight years older. Age isn't that important to me.

I think you have to remember that age is a number but life phase is a fact. If he’s so much older that now or eventually you’ll be in different life phases, like you’re working and he’s retired, or you’re retired and he needs you to be a caregiver, that would be unfair to you and you’d resent it eventually.
