Is it impossible for a marriage between a 21 and 39 year old to work?

My girlfriend proposed to me and I said yes, some of our mutual friends think the age difference is too big. I'm 21 and she's 39.

Life is uncertain.
Nobody marries thinking 'This might last five years'.
But the reality is that life is hard work.

If she's at the stage of thinking "Yay ! Finally !! Now we get to get a house ! Have six kids ! Dog ! Rabbit ! Mortgage ! holidays abroad ! Credit cards !
(eg: The life you were probably living 20 years ago)
You're gonna have a problem !

@Picklebobble2 Oh, neither of us want kids.

@Billybob2 I just meant that the two of you may be at different stages in life, generally.
But all power to you !
Rare for a young person to consider marriage. If it's what you really want, go for it !
