Because they have absolutely no respect for their spouse/ partner and no discipline in their actions.
That may sound harsh but inevitably it boils down to that.

@SW-User may not be..

@romell Inevitably it does. When you break it down to its core, that is where it will lead. And yeah, perhaps cowardice to do the right thing.

@SW-User It's so simple to judge and to speak from our own limited experience but let's try to use a little imagination to see the world is not black and white: people even today are in arranged marriages i bet many or most of them cheat, there are still societies that frown upon divorce (especially if the woman is the one attempting it) and i am willing to bet many would cheat rather than brave the divorce, there are people who have children and either trough influence(rich husband) or a biased system (pretty much every man that doesn't have a shitload to spend on lawyers) are afraid of losing the right to see their own children more than twice a month if they leave the person they don't want to be with anymore but don't want to live in chastity for the remaining of years it takes the children to reach adulthood. The world is full of grey areas it's not usually that easy to "break it down to it's core".

@kayoshin and added to it other reasons medical being one..

@kayoshin I didn't read all of that.
But it is far from judgment.
Breaks it down and analyse yourself.
It is also easy to make excuses for bad behaviour.
And if one is looking to make excuses to cheat, why pretend to be monogamous?
In everything else, doing anything that can hurt your partner or family is betrayal. Then why not in having sexual relationships in hiding?

Let's not get wound up about opinions. Live your life your way but a spade is a spade.

@SW-User unless you hit someone In the head with it then it's a weapon or you row on a raft with it then it's a paddle or you chop a tree with it then it's an axe, perhaps you should check out how many things the army thinks a spade can be. I've been cheated on and don't see things as black and white as you do, it's easy for the victims of cheating to close themselves up from blame and hurt by throwing it all on the cheater and make it a "them vs us" issue but it's just a simplistic and immature way to go through life in my point of view. Yelling out how there is no way a person could cheat and be forced by circumstance only proves either a lack of imagination and empathy or a bitter prejudice caused by negative experiences.
