* Secure your home. Whether it be the place you shared or somewhere new.
New locks are a must.
* Try not to let it affect your working life, easier said than done i know. But you need that as something to put your back against while you're going through it !
* If you have children. Put them at the forefront of everything you do. Your ex might be a pain in the ass but you have to remember the children need as much stability as possible during the upset.
* If you can avoid it, don't fight over the contents of your home. Better to just let it go than create stress over something that you could probably live without anyway.
* Make sure you get agreement on who's paying for what ! If your ex- owes half the rent/mortgage. Ensure you have agreement that they'll pay their way for what is owed. Including utilities.
It sucks ! But if you can do it amicably the release of tension and stress will make the whole thing easier on you.
