Anybody good at maths?

Literally am tired of burdening the people I care about with incessant questions on how and why.
Any maths teachers around?

What does inverse mean in mathematical terms?

@fazer1k I think in terms of the unit I am doing on functions it is the reverse. For example y=x
The Inverse of the function of f(x) = f^-1(x)
And there is an exponential law which describes what to do above. I will have to post a picture of the rule.
I have at least ten of more expressions similar to the above that I need to rearrange.
