I just wanna say

Maybe we should do away with the whole “if you don’t love yourself you can’t love someone else” idea.

Possibly. But consequently, if you dislike yourself it's likely going to affect your relationship in an adverse way.

@SW-User not necessarily. The reasons i dislike myself could be out of my control. Myself as an example. Your own problems should not keep you from loving and being loved.

@Ohbabe I don't make any judgments about dysfunctional relationships. Most people have them. But to say there are no adverse consequences is not an accurate representation of reality. I grappled with severe depression and anxiety in my younger years and still managed long term relationships. But reality is that mental illness does affect your ability to have a healthy relationship with others.

@SW-User Mental illness definitely affects relationships but those affects aren’t necessarily bad. Im not saying that this idea doesn’t have some truth to it. Sure. A person that’s detrimental to themselves can definitely do the same to others. My only point here is that this isn’t necessarily true for many people.

@Ohbabe I completely disagree with that assessment. It doesn't speak true from experience nor from what I see others experience.

@SW-User and I completely disagree with yours. Considering what I see others experience. Its fine. lol. I don’t expect everyone to agree with me
