Guys...Do You Open the Door for a Girl?

My daughter started dating this guy and after the third date she asked him why he didn't open the car door for her. He responded, "Can't you do it?" She said, "Of course I can, but it would be nice if you did." My husband always opens the door for me, runs and opens doors for other people, holds the elevator door open for people, helps them with their groceries, returns shopping carts, and other simple but kindly gestures (FYI... my daughters and I also do these things). Is it a lost thing? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but to me it's just the right thing to do.

I didn't think about this at first, but if this happened on the third date, that must mean he was more courteous on the 1st and 2nd, and THAT means he's all hat and no cattle. He knows what to do to temporarily impress but too lazy and thoughtless to continue. It would be a better sign if he just didn't know.

@Mamapolo2016 Time to drop him.

@SW-User I think it's time we take back the streets - and the car doors.

Yes, she has since broken up with him. I don't think it was because of the car incident. However, yes...I agree, I think he did it just to impress. I would rather have someone NOT open the door for me than just do it to impress.

well... I mean... to me it's an indicator.. so yeah, would eventually reveal something not so great about him.
