Guys...Do You Open the Door for a Girl?

My daughter started dating this guy and after the third date she asked him why he didn't open the car door for her. He responded, "Can't you do it?" She said, "Of course I can, but it would be nice if you did." My husband always opens the door for me, runs and opens doors for other people, holds the elevator door open for people, helps them with their groceries, returns shopping carts, and other simple but kindly gestures (FYI... my daughters and I also do these things). Is it a lost thing? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but to me it's just the right thing to do.

It's not a lost thing... there are many of us who still do this... even car doors.
Frankly, I think your daughter's boyfriend has failed a test... and she should drop him. It may seem a small thing now, but it's an indicator and no good can come of it.

@livingaloha Do you know what an equivalent test is, though not with the same urgency? You open the car door for a gal... especially when it's cold, and by the time you get to the driver's door, she leans over and opens the lock. Of course, that's no longer the case with modern cars... lol.. 😜
