Guys...Do You Open the Door for a Girl?

My daughter started dating this guy and after the third date she asked him why he didn't open the car door for her. He responded, "Can't you do it?" She said, "Of course I can, but it would be nice if you did." My husband always opens the door for me, runs and opens doors for other people, holds the elevator door open for people, helps them with their groceries, returns shopping carts, and other simple but kindly gestures (FYI... my daughters and I also do these things). Is it a lost thing? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but to me it's just the right thing to do.

With many kids today it is lost. I have found that families that do this, their kids will do it. I myself am like your husband and you, all though I don't always open my wife's car door but all other doors and suck I will always hold up for her and anyone else that is just coming in or going out. At the doctor's office I held the elevator for my wife and another lady, letting them on and off first, she was about your age and when she got off the elevator, she told my wife she had a keeper because of my simple normal gesture. Life is to short not to show all others the simple kind things in life that most take for granted.

@Checkingoutall Yes, you sound like a keeper. Keep it up! Thanks!

@livingaloha Keeper or not, I will always continue to respect others and be kind, even if it's just holding a door open. The world needs more people to think of others before always thinking of themselves.
