Guys...Do You Open the Door for a Girl?

My daughter started dating this guy and after the third date she asked him why he didn't open the car door for her. He responded, "Can't you do it?" She said, "Of course I can, but it would be nice if you did." My husband always opens the door for me, runs and opens doors for other people, holds the elevator door open for people, helps them with their groceries, returns shopping carts, and other simple but kindly gestures (FYI... my daughters and I also do these things). Is it a lost thing? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but to me it's just the right thing to do.

It is nice but times are changing and it's not that bad for a young man not to do it in this day and age

@MushroomFaerie Sadly, I guess that's how people think now. But too many teenagers/young adults not only not do this for their dates/significant others, but for elderly and others in need.
@livingaloha I totally agree with that. I saw a teenage boy push passed an elderly woman once... I was horrified! I should have said something but I was in shock. When I went out with my grandparents I used to make sure nobody banged into them because they did!

@MushroomFaerie Yeah, until it happens to you, it's hard to believe that people are like that. Would like to say they're distracted from their electronic devices or whatever, but that's rarely true.
