Chatting online is cheating?

If you're married or in a relationship and you chat without them knowing...is that cheating?

If you’re actively hiding and know your significant other would not be happy about it, then yeah it’s some form of disloyalty.

What is being said to other people, how long have they been doing it without their spouse knowing, is it more than chitchat, etc.

Depending on the context I’d say anywhere from mildly annoyed to being confronted with serious questioning.
