Is this weird?

My coworker and I always exchange looks but neither of us smile...ever. I dont smile because she looks at me like I killed her kitten. Both of us are interested but too shy to speak up. I know I'm a male and should grow a pair but its hard. If I followed her on instagram would it be weird? I feel like she'd think "How the hell did this guy get my instagram?" Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
