"Telling" and nagging will erode the quality of the relationship.

Irrespective of her boyfriend's aesthetics,
if your friend is in her early twenties,
then being slightly overweight bodes ill for her future.

Statistics show that two-thirds of Westerners are overweight -
meaning their health is either at risk, or already seriously affected.

On average, Westerners gain 1 kilo per year throughout their lives.
By the time we have no waist,
the arteries are clogged with fatty plaques,
the heart and lungs are under strain
and the brain receives less oxygen.
Eventually, this causes frontal lobe dementia.

The risks of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, arthritis (from overload of weight on joints), cancer, cellulitis, loss of mobility and freedom, and numerous other problems all increase.

For a significant proportion, there is no money to pay the exorbitant fees for treatment. The suffering of obese people is extreme, made worse by shame and embarrassment.

If your girlfriend is only slightly fat now,
chances are she will be obese before she reaches 40,
unless she decides to get help and change her diet and lifestyle now.

Most young people mostly have no idea of just how serious the effects of obesity are. Even mild levels of overweight are a threat.
