Why people call you when they have no conversation, I'll never know.

Dude has expressed interest, we've shared two meals together, but when he calls, he has nothing to say. I appreciate that fact that he does call instead of just texting, but I don't want to sit on the phone listening to him breathe or laugh at something funny on TV. Yes, I know communication is a two-way street but I feel like I'm the only one putting in the effort to keep him talking. WTH?
