In your opinion, what makes a person an "adult" besides age?

life experiences, ability to cope, looking at the big picture, applying logic, learning from mistakes.

Legally one becomes adult mostly at 18, but to me it has to do with maturity. I had a roommate once who was 30 something years older than I. But he called names, threw temper tantrums and generally acted like a spoiled child despite his age. (And no, he wasn't mentally challenged.)

Being responsible. After that? Learning from mistakes I guess. I hope I never fully grow up though.

Spending a lot of $. Being an adult and being truly mature are two different things.

some one that puts others 1st is always there for people when they need help

The fact they take responsibility for their life and their family.

being able to make decisions for the future not just the present!

When they start buying boxes of tissues.

Taking care of their business.

Way of thinking, talking, etc.

Paying their way in life

Emotional maturity and being responsible for their own actions and well being .

They can take responsibilities and put the needs of others before their own.

Maturity which only comes from real life experience

How to cowboy up and take life SERIOUS when it really counts .

When they start paying their own taxes and bills.

Character and common sence

How they love (or don't).

Being completely responsible for one's own upkeep, paying all the bills.
