Does forgiveness come natural for you or do you have to work for it to happen?

There is someone I need to forgive but I am not though being angry.

I tend to try to understand why someone did something, then I learn from it. If there is no understanding (and the person is simply being evil) I cut them off and don't give them a second thought.

@flossy What this guy did makes no sense at unless you factor in that he was a sadist. There may be another explanation but I could not think of one. If I had an explanation that made sense I would forgive in a heartbeat.
