Theoretically, it could be found anywhere. Realistically, it's unlikely. Romantic love requires a genuine connection, which an internet-only relationship hampers somewhat by virtue of being intrinsically impersonal. It's far too easy in a medium where every form of communication can be extensively revised before being delivered to put on a mask.

Oh certainly. But a LDR formed over the internet will still usually be inherently weaker than one formed between two people who lived close together and then were forced apart, because it lacks that foundation of close personal connection.
Of course, just as easily as the internet allows us to wear a mask, reduced social pressure can make it easier to strip a mask away and be more freely expressive of your true intent. So, call it a pretty even shot I guess.
