You answered your own question. Honesty; they say it's a virtue whilst it's understandable why it's considered such :)
@Justbychance thx but many hate hearing the truth!

People not wanting to know the truth are, often, in denial. A part of self-preservation is to NOT want to know the truth for fear it may cause more pain, suffering our heartache. I think it right to say there are situations in life where it would be considered better to hold back the truth ... or ... prepare someone before they are told the truth. Often, the truth can hurt a person into them believing that the person who tells them the truth is causing them to hurt. There's a lot to be said about telling the 'respectful truth' to someone who we think needs it, or someone who needs it more than they think. Often-times the truth we don't speak of is more than likely going to come from elsewhere; we can take that as a considered option in not being honest.

A very emotive topic, that's for sure. A topic where a person might consider protecting someone from the truth IS the right way to go. Casting aside morals, would I 'protect' a person in not being honest with them? In all honesty, I'm sure there will have been times I have done so, but I don't suggest that I did the right thing ... more than I think I did what I considered to be right at the time :)
