Do you still have intellectual conversations with your significant other/boyfriend ?

Why is it that after awhile couples stop talking about intellectual topics? I hear men saying : “ ‘my wife or gf is not my intellectual equal” Well, dude wake-up, maybe it is because you stopped talking to her about interesting topics. Now suddenly you find other women more attractive because you think they are smarter. Look inside - it is you - she is smarter than you think. She has always been. You just stopped paying attention - please talk to her again.

(This is not intended to be sexist , i get that it can be the other way around too.)

Men aren't instinctual listeners. That's the problem. Plus, they're trained throughout life that asking women open-ended questions can be very dangerous.

@SW-User i have always asked women in my life open ended questions. nothing more boring than a woman in a box or cage, or on a pedestal.

She asked, basically, why men shut down. I gave two common causes

To some extent. It was certainly happening to me not to long ago. But some of my male friends have also mentioned that to me about their wives or girlfriends. @MrSmooth666
