Why do I feel lonely all of a sudden?

I have been single all of my life. I had no problem being alone for all 21 years of my life. For the past couple months I have started to feel lonely. Then this past couple weeks it has gotten worse and I am wanting to be in a relationship more than ever now. Why the sudden loneliness now?
