Is it deemed weird to ask for a private conversation here?

If you've talked in public and that's been good and you have something to talk about, I don't think so. If you send a vapid message having never talked, probably. If you view their profile and see a lot in common and good posted stories, and start the conversation respectfully, depends on the person.

Lackwittyname.....I have info on my profile and have posted lots. I assume people who want to talk to me will have read something of mine that they can relate to. That's why I would message someone here x

Not weird....but I dot get why people message 'hi' without any clue why they have messaged you!

Agreed Rubysoo, that's why I said if there are stories and groups in common it is fine, but depends on the person. I've written a few that way.

Not if you have a reason to do so.

Perhaps if none have taken place with the person previously.
