If you've talked in public and that's been good and you have something to talk about, I don't think so. If you send a vapid message having never talked, probably. If you view their profile and see a lot in common and good posted stories, and start the conversation respectfully, depends on the person.

Agreed Rubysoo, that's why I said if there are stories and groups in common it is fine, but depends on the person. I've written a few that way.
