What does love look like to you?

What is love, many have a different definition, here is mine:
Love, the kind you feel for THE one can be described like this:

Love is one of the most amazing emotion ever felt. It's as old as time. It’s when you feel your heart so light that it floats in the air and dances with his or hers to the sound of a serenade made by both heartbeats. It’s when your soul is filled with joy, peace and serenity as it melts and merges with the one you love. If lucky you'll have found your soul mate, you will recognize it. It's the strongest bond two humans can be tied with, you already seem to know one another even though you have just been brought into the other one's life, just as if you had found your way back to each other. It's at the same time a mental, spiritual, physical and a soul connection. It’s when you look into the one’s eyes and can see your future in them, like your own little piece of paradise, It’s understanding one another with no words, it’s beyond sexual desires, it’s when you can spend hours with each other and still be happy even if not saying a word, just because the one you love is right by your side. True and pure love has no limits, no boundaries, no gender, no color, no age (as long as legal) it's unconditional and powerful, true love forgives and its patient. It’s when all the flaws they may have becomes cute and adorable, it’s when all their imperfections makes them so perfect in your eyes. No matter near or far, distance doesn't matter cause you always remain in each other's heart. It’s when you would do anything for the one you love. It’s being able to really be yourself and to know that no matter what, it will be ok cause she/he is there. It’s simply to never be able to imagine your life without the one nor remember how it was prior they blessed you with their love. In one word it is finally reaching home, being where you belong after a long journey.
Love isn’t always easy, it takes communication, trust, passion, devotion, you need to be there for each other, it’s about compromise and accepting the other as she/he is, never try to change them, cause if you do, they would not be the one you fell for in the first place. Love is worth experiencing if you are blessed enough to be touched by it.

I've never seen anyone who stayed together have an easy time of it. I've seen plenty who gave up on it. I gave up too because I made the mistake of loving people who also didn't want to put any effort into it. The ones who stayed together made it through a lot because they decided to. I don't think love is all lovey dovey fun stuff at all.

Invisible. You can't see it, but you can only feel it. You'll know when it's there and when it's only lust. Love is unconditional. Never gets jealous. Is never needy. And gives space and freedom because love accepts the other for who he or she really is, with all his or her imperfections.

How about this one

Ugh, some dude deleted the story I posted the essay on... :P To me, it's imperfect. It's compromise first and foremost. To love someone is being willing to change for them, to be the best version of your yourself you can be for them. Love is not unconditional at all, nor is it perfect or true. Love is challenging and hard work, as it should be. Love is beautiful, but not just its happy moments. The sad times, the angry times, the scary times all weave a beautiful tapestry of a journey together. That journey is no less beautiful for the length of it, or lack thereof. Love comes in so many forms and none of them are easy.

In short, to me, love looks like a strange brown goopy substance... :P

Someone who cares a lot about me.
Who makes a point of trying to make me happy
Laughs at my jokes, holds my hand, supports me when I'm are feeling blue.
Not ashamed of me, adores me, wants the world to know that he loves me.
Is loyal, will stay with me, wants to grow old with me.
Defends me against those who would try to hurt me.
This to me is love.

I have settled at times for less than this and no more.
I want love that is real.
I want to give this kind of love in return.
I don't really know. I have loved it since i was really young. I love everything about it.

This royal throne of kings,
This earth of majesty, this seat of mars,
This Eden, demi paradise,
This fortress built by nature for herself,
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, thi earth, this realm, this England.

Sorry saw your bit about England had to write this as I have it tattooed on my back.

EightDown - I agree. Love is not all lovey dovey stuff. But with the right people the rough rides don't seem like hard work, just another part of the day. Or maybe I am naive in my thinking still.

Eh maybe you are right.
SW-User
No. You have a point. A shared burden, people working together, is love. When only one person is trying, it can't work. It's no good. 😕

Callme - yes a lot of villages in England are absolutely stunning and quaint when you are in them. Cobbled streets and an aura of being out of time. :)
Calmsoul · 31-35, M
Like fresh oxygen in early morning , like moving bare footed over wet grass in morning

I'm honestly just confused right now. Who's insulting who? Who's offended?! Is any of this even real?! Gah! :P
A smile from across the room.Eye contact meant only for you, filled with lust and longing.
Calmsoul · 31-35, M
@Aido Thanks :)
But still not as beautiful as love itself
I do know most of my ancestors came from England or Ireland

EightDown - shouldn't be and only feels like it when the love doesn't feel right.
Maggimay · 46-50, F
The good, the bad and the ugly. Sometimes even rolled into one. And a forgiving heart and unselfish mind.
