I still think love and loyalty are true and existing. But when people keep failing you...I don't know. It makes a person become cold...

...and lose good expectations by choice, no matter how pure or true or hopeful they were at the beginning.

And when these hurt people make really good connections, feelings of disappointment and hurt they've experienced in the past leave them with one foot in and one foot out on any new relationships they make or be suspicious. Like they're just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

It's like waiting on a door to close or be slammed in their face. Or sometimes, they step away on their own. Kinda like a road block.

Can this be cured? How?

With time, and it sounds like this is the big problem for them, they don't wait for the hurt to eventually end because they hang on to it instead of moving on. Shame because not everyone fails us and they are around if we look.
