Age gap differences

So does an age gap matter anymore if the people involved love each other?

I've been in an age gap relationship. Everyone legal, to be clear. It can work and work well. But, the age gap is a significant factor and things will crop up to work through together. I wouldn't call it a matter of maturity. It's more a matter of older partner having more experiences simply because they have lived longer. It doesn't make the older partner better or more valuable, but there will come times when it matters. When the older one will have already been through something the younger needs to experience for themselves. It can be good to share those times. Bonding. If there's healthy communication. The younger partner also brings value to the relationship. Youth is energizing. The enthusiasm and naivete are a way to stay in touch with the joys in the newness and promise of life. Both can bring value because of their differences. That's been my experience, anyway.
