If you have been in a physically abusive situation

I have a question for those that have been in a physically abusive situation.
If you are in a situation where things are escalating with a person that has hit you before, do you feel pain in your body in the same areas youve been hit, if youre afraid to be hit again?
Example. A few Weeks ago I was hit. Today a similar situation with this same person came up and I was terrified of being hit. There was no way to go or get out of it. Thankfully I was not hit today and someone intervened but i have bad pain now from where i was hit 3 weeks ago.
I dont know why.
Does anyone have an explanation?
Edit. I am not in a relationship with this person

It’s been over 30 years since I was in an abusive relationship but the fear got worse and worse over time to a point where I was always scared of him and never felt safe.

It started when I was 4 and lasted till I was 11. By then I had figured out I need to and could get out of there . We lived on a farm and my closest neighbor was 5 miles down the road .

The body has a memory of its own even to the extent of feeling "ghost pain".

I was in an abusive relationship for 13 years. Never knew when he was going to get angry was like walking on eggshells.

Yes, it is PTSD physical pain flashbacks.

You might want to read about it bit.

For me it is on the back of my head when having confrontation with anyone who is armed.
