All in 21 Minutes

That's what she told me bluntly last night. Over the phone.
Over the weekend I'd confronted her on the fact that we barely spoke all summer because I opened up to her about things. Long story short, the talk we had was much nicer than I'd feared and we appeared to be on the mend all weekend. It was a truly beautiful weekend filled with reconnecting on an emotional level.

Then came yesterday.

I'd apparently forgotten to close a window or two in her house on Saturday before I went to bed. She realized it yesterday, prompting her to ask me via text what the fuck is wrong with me. I asked her to call me because I didn't remember what she was talking about.

Upon calling me last night, she told me what I'd done exactly, which left me stunned because I can see why she's be so pissed. These weren't small windows. These were screen door windows and anyone could've walked in at any time.

But after explaining what I did she followed up by saying she "just can't do it anymore". Do what anymore? "I'm done!".

She thinks I'm irresponsible, and I'll never change. She came after me for "nit picky" things such as leaving lights on, leaving my things at her house. She compared me to a six year old that leaves her to pick up the proverbial pieces. She told me I have zero common sense and used the 4th of July as an example, where I was driving us somewhere and I realized halfway through the ride that I didn't have the directions to our destination.

She's also said that while she was apart from me, her nervous system began to calm down. When I returned - which she initiated - the stress came back, or so she said.

After berating me for 21 minutes, she said "you, know, it's a shame. Because when things were good between us, they were good". I asked her if she was really willing to throw away all of these years and everything we've been through together. She responded "yeah" without hesitation. She'd said that this was all building up, and yesterday was the final straw.

She'd given me too many chances to change and she's convinced I never will. She told me to take care of myself and hung up.

All in 21 minutes.

She closed the door on the life and works we'd built together.

All in 21 minutes.

There are a lot of things I can do to this, but won't. I'm still overwhelmed, still trying to process what happened. Last night my world fell apart.

All in 21 minutes.
