What do I do now?

Alright, it's been a long time since we have posted anything and there is a lot to unpack. So i do apologize for this being rather long.

When I was last here I was engaged to a woman who was a single mother of a little boy. I am now married to her and I adopted her son. We continue our low key domestic discipline lifestyle. It works for us and I don't go asking people if they agree. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and how they want to live their lives.

My wife recently lost her mother and so she is grieving hard. I've been trying to help her navigate returning to work and life. She has stopped baking which anyone who knows my wife would say, "Jenny not baking is not good." . Jenny loves baking and making things.. it's her stress reliever. She just has to find herself again but for now I will gladly be her rock.

Now, before anyone asks if her behavior is out of hand and how do I handle it... Let me tell you. Yes her behavior is out of wack but she is going through a lot. Is it excusable?? No and I am handling it very lightly. I don't believe in yelling but I do believe in a firm hand. Jenny has been for the most part distant but when she isn't closed up.. she can be rude and I have to get involved.
One time I had to pick her up in the store, haul her over my shoulder, carry her out of the store and have a hand to butt talk before she apologized and her tone changed.
One time, she was getting all bent out of shape over her son's school paperwork and I had to step in. She had to go stand in our room and she got spanked later.
One time she got in a fist fight over a misunderstanding and I thought I wasn't going to be able to get her off the other woman. She just hasn't been herself since her mother passed away.

So here is what I am asking from you all... What should I do? How can I help her without hurting her? I worry about her and I want my wife back. Any ideas is better than nothing.

How long has it been? Sometimes you just need time. It won't heal the wound, it will always be there, but it will be easier to handle. I remember when my mom's mom passed away. My mom still remembers the day and it's been over a decade now.
