Where Are We?

That title. That's what I'm about to ask her.

Since I last wrote about the problems I've had with my girlfriend, I hardly heard from her or even saw her all summer. In short, she turned my opening up to her into a diatribe about needed to accomplish multiple things before her retirement, blaming me for not letting her do those things.

In reality, all she needed to do was just ask me to leave her be and I would've left her alone without complaint and with all the support I can offer. She just wanted to make me feel bad.

So, I told her to not call me again until those things were accomplished, "I don't care how long it takes". She agreed on a very deflated tone. That's why I was surprised (kind of) to hear from her only two weeks later. I knew she wasn't finished with what she needed to do. I knew she missed me.

Then came two weeks ago, when her cousin was due to come up to her house with her boyfriend so she and her cousin could go away together for a few days. It'd come out that this boyfriend had a rap sheet a mile wide. So, my girlfriend, stricken with RA, reached out to me, requesting I come down in the event of anything happening.

I wasn't going to leave a woman with RA defenseless. Within days, her cousin dumped the.guy.and my girlfriend was no longer on danger. But she still asked that I take her jewelry with me just in case this guy somehow broke into the house. That never happened and I knew it wouldn't.

We hung out last weekend, when I went down there to return her jewelry, and my girlfriend was suddenly a lot nicer, and significantly more gentle than she'd been in months. It was strange to me. There was quite a bit of anxiety on my part.

We may have spent the entire weekend together, but it doesn't resolve anything. There's a lot we need to discuss. And after two whole months of being punished for speaking my mind, I don't know that I even want to be with her anymore.

I strongly suggest that you move along. Yes, relationships take work but not this much work. The woman is a stadium full of red flags, jerking you around and you’d be foolish not to heed the warnings. A healthy relationship would not have these difficulties. Stop waiting for her to decide what’s gonna happen in your life. Take control now and break free of the toxicity.
