Is he good to her? Then okay
As long as they both were good. I am good.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
It would be fine if the friend was rich. And also if I had any children.
Mindful · 56-60, F
I'm going to be honest. This would make me feel very uncomfortable unless I KNEW he was a well rounded person and perfectly healthy mentally, physically, financially. Even then, the age gap would bother me if more than 10 years. (Which it would almost certainly be if it's a friend). Also, this awkward relationship has the potential to place a strain on the mother father daughter relationships because of the stress of not knowing whether or not things were healthy emotionally etc. I would constantly wonder "what is okay to talk anbout and what is not okay to share?" All relationships have conflicts and it would be very awkward for a friend to have conflict with my daughter. I would not like it. I wouldn't keep it from happening, but I would not like it. I hope I'm never in that position. I'm guessing this happens a lot now that the divorce rate is higher than ever in all age brackets.

Let's see my youngest daughter is 23 and my oldest is 40 and all my friends are in their 60s
I'd have questions about when I had a daughter...
OriginalDumbMan · 36-40
Would beat up my friend to stay out of her reach, if I had a daughter
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
I know a guy who married his mum's childhood friend when he was 30. The relationship between his mum and wife have been weird but getting better.
So, are you saying that you are dating one of your parents friends?😁
Confused, because I didn't know I have a daughter.
HumanEarth · F
That's because you have spuds
@HumanEarth He forgets that regularly, apparently...
Justbegood · 31-35, M
Nothing wrong in my opinion ?

See a therapist about her daddy issues.
WellEndowedDude · 18-21, M
In the future, probably a little betrayed and disgusted. Since that'd basically be his niece lmao
i'm going to play with your boobs
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
I would be surprised, since I neither have daughters nor friends.
Jessmari · 46-50, T
Never had kids, but I really don't think I'd be onboard with that.
GoFish ·
who is disrespecting you more? your friend or your daughter? 😒
Sapio · 51-55, M
It would be an uncomfortable situation for me. I'm 53 and my daughter will be 32 this year. I wouldn't want to picture her dating someone my age much less a friend of mine. The opportunity is there for affected relationships with both.
@Sapio I married a 39 year old when I was 19... though not a friend of my parents'.
MarineBob · 61-69, M
She is but I'm not supposed to know
@MarineBob oh my
Neuman · M
very confused as i don't have a daughter and the first, possibly ony friend that jumps to mind has some health issues that makes memory problematic
If my daughter is legally an adult, while I might not be wild about it, it’s none of my business. Unless I know things about my friend that my daughter doesn’t know.

As painful as it might be for parents, children need to be allowed to make their own mistakes. I would provide guidance and information, but no forbidding.
